Once upon a time four children - Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy - who got an extraordinary adventure, as told in a book called The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Upon opening the door of a wardrobe delighted, found themselves in a totally different world from ours, and in that world, a country called Narnia, become kings and queens. During their stay in Narnia felt that had reigned for years and years, but returned to the door of the wardrobe to England, it seemed that the adventure had taken almost no time. At least no one noticed his absence, and they never told anyone anything, except a very wise adult. All this had happened a year ago. The four were at the time that we start this story, sitting in a train station, surrounded by piles of suitcases. They were back to school. They had traveled together up to that station, which was a junction, and within a few minutes the train was to arrive and the girls, hence the half hour, the train of boys. The first part of the trip off as if it were part of the holidays, but now approaching goodbyes, everyone felt that the holidays were over and started again the concerns of the school year. Great melancholy reigned and no one knew what to say. Lucy went to a boarding school for the first time.It was a rural station and empty: besides, there was nobody else on the platform. Suddenly, Lucy shrieked and fast, as if he had been stung by a wasp.- What is it, Lucy? - Edmund asked, but soon stopped dropping a noise like eh!- But that thing ... - Peter began, which will also soon broke off, saying instead: - Stop, Susan! Where are you pulling me?- Not even touch you! - Susan replied. - Is someone pulling me. Oh, oh, oh, stop it!Everyone noticed that the faces of others had become very pale.- I felt the same thing - Edmund said, breathlessly. - It felt like someone was dragging me. A tug horrible! Oops! Here it comes again!- I am also feeling - called Lucy. - What a nasty thing!- Beware! - Edmund exclaimed. - Let's hold hands. I'm sure it is magic.- That's right, hand in hand - said Susana. - Is this not going to stop?Another moment, and baggage, train station, everything was gone, without leaving a mark. The four children, clinging to each other, panting, then saw that they were in a place full of trees, so full of trees that barely had room to move. Rubbed his eyes and took a deep breath. Lucy asked:- Peter, do you think we may have returned to Narnia?- Can be anywhere. With these trees as drawn, does not see an inch beyond his nose. Let's see if we can find an open place, if it exists here. With some difficulty, and taking scratches from the thorns, they managed to get rid of the bushes. And it was another surprise. Everything became brighter. After walking a few steps, found themselves on the edge of the woods, to look down on a sandy beach. At a distance of several meters, incredibly serene a sea advancing on the sand in places so small that almost no one heard. There was no land in sight, and not a cloud in the sky. The sun was where it should be at ten o'clock in the morning and the sea was a dazzling blue. They stopped, smelling the salty air.- How good is! - Said Peter.Hence the five minutes were all barefoot, wading in cold water and transparent.- Much better than being in a stuffy train, back to Latin, and algebra aofrancês! - Edmund said. And for a while only heard the sound of water. - Anyway - Susan said then - I suppose we have to make some plans. Hunger should not take.- We have the sandwiches his mother gave us for the trip - Edmund recalled. - I at least am with mine.- I do not - said Lucy. - I left in my suitcase.- I also - said Susana.- Mine are in my coat pocket, there on the beach - said Peter. - So are two to four lunches. It is not up to much.- Right now - said Lucy - I want to drink water than eat.All were based, naturally happen when you play in salt water, under a scorching sun.- It's as if we had suffered shipwreck - Edmundo observed. - In books, where the island is a source of fresh water and clear. We'd better look for her.- It will be necessary to go back to that jungle? - Susan asked.- No way, 'said Peter. - If there are sources here, they have come to the sea, so if we are walking along the beach, we find them. They walked, first on the wet sand and soft, then on the sand which clings to the toes. Edmund and Lucy wanted to go barefoot and leave the shoes there, but Susana warned them that it would not be good:- We can not find them later, and we may need them if we are still here at dusk, when it begins to cool. They stopped then and began to put on my socks and shoes.Once again shoes, started walking along the beach with the sea on the left and kill the right. Outside either gull, was a place of calm throughout. The forest was so dense and tangled that almost no one could look into it, and nothing in there was no sign of life, nor a bird, not even an insect.Shells, seaweed and anemones, crabs and small pools in the rocks, this is all very nice, but when you're thirsty, it soon gets tired of everything. The four legs felt heavy and hot. Susan and Lucy had their raincoats to load. Edmundo, a moment before being caught by the magic had left his coat on a bench in the station, so he alternated with Peter to take the heavy overcoat of his brother.Soon the earth began to curve to the right. About a quarter of an hour later, after crossing a pointed crest, the land described a curve very close. Had their backs to the sea that they had found when they leave the forest. Looking forward, they saw another addition to the water densely wooded.- Is it an island? - Asked Lucia.- I dunno - said Peter. And they kept silent. The land on which stepped closer and closer to the opposite field, and they hoped to find a place at any time when the two come together. But it was always a disappointment. They came to some rocks that had to climb and the top could see quite far.- Now balls! No use - said Edmund. - We will not ever get to the other forest. We are an island! It was true. At this point, the channel that separated them from the other shore was not more than thirty or forty feet. But it was his narrowest point.- Look! - Said Lucy suddenly. - What is it? - And pointed to something sinuous, long and silver that was seen on the beach.- A creek! A creek! - And all cried, even tired, have not lost one second to go down the rocks and run into fresh water. How did they know well above, far from the beach, the water would be better to drink, went immediately to the place where the creek out of the woods. The trees were still thick, but the creek had become a deep water course, to slide between high mossy banks, so that a person inclined could follow it with a kind of tunnel plant. Kneeling next to the first bubbling puddle and drank until satiated, plunging his face into the water, and then the arms to the elbows.- Well ... - Edmund said. - And those sandwiches?- Would it be better economize them? - Susan interrupted. - It may be that later we need more of them.- It would be great - watched Lucy - if we could go without turning into hunger, as when we were thirsty.- It is ... but the sandwiches? - Edmund repeated. - It's not worth economize them, because they will spoil. Here is much hotter than in England, and they are already in our pockets for a few hours. Thus, the two divided by four sandwiches. Nobody killed the hunger, but it was better than nothing. Then they started to imagine what would be the next meal. Lucy wanted to go overboard and catch shrimp, but gave up when someone pointed out that no one had a network. Edmund suggested that they caught on the rocks gull eggs, but on second thought, no one remembered ever having seen a gull's egg. Even if they found any, would not know how to cook it. Peter had no courage to say that the eggs, even raw, would be worth. Susan still felt that they should not have eaten the sandwiches soon. Finally Edmund said:- There is only one thing to do: we need to explore the forest. Hermits and knights, and other people like, always managed to live in one or another way, within a forest. Found roots, seeds, dunno what else ...- What kind of roots? - Susan asked.- I think the roots of trees - said Lucy.- Let's go - said Peter. Edmund is right. We have to try anything. They began to walk along the creek. It was not easy. When they were not forced to crouch under the branches, they had to climb over them. They went tumbling between clumps of flowers, tearing clothes, dipping its toes in the creek. And, around only a great silence.- Look! Look! - Exclaimed Lucy. - Looks like an apple tree. And it was. They climbed the hill panting, hike, and ended up finding a great tree laden with golden apples, firm, juicy. It could not be better.- And this tree is not the only - said Edmund, with his mouth full. - Look there another, another there ...- There are dozens, no doubt - said Susan, discarding the seeds of the first and taking another apple tree. - This place must have been an orchard, a long time ago, before the weeds grow.- Then there was a time when this island was inhabited - said Peter.- And what is that? - Asked Lucy, pointing forward.- It is a wall, an old stone wall - Pedro said.Pioneering among the laden branches, reached the wall. It was very old, ruined here and there, filled with moss and vines, higher than almost all the trees. As they got closer, they found a large arch, which should have taken before a gate, but was now almost fully occupied by the most luxuriant of all the apple trees. They had to break some branches in order to pass. When crossed, they began to blink because the light of day suddenly became much more intense. They were in a large open space surrounded by walls. Without trees, underbrush only, marigolds, ivy and gray walls. But the place was bright and serene, hovering there a certain melancholy. The four drove to the center of it, happy because now they could stretch his arms and legs.
